"I was born under unusual circumstances."

My day was anything but noteworthy, so forget me, it's all about the trailer for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button!

I'm determined to read the book before December 25th, as that is when the movie is released.
And now I know what I'm doing on Christmas!

Hmmm.

Using my Ryerson key chain thing: good karma or bad karma?

We're Parked on the Poultry Floor

Yesterday was a marathon.
As planned, I went to the University Fair in Toronto with Anna and her family. When we got to Toronto, we went to the infamous dumpling house in China Town, and we had a feast! I had a bowl of Hot and Sour soup, a few pieces of these Green Onion Cake type things, and a few handfuls of dumplings. Duh-lish.
After stuffing ourselves, we went to the Convention Center for the fair. I can't remember the last time I've been in a crowd that big! Shortly after we got there, Anna had a seminar for UO to go to, so I decided to go pick up the pair of headphones that I've been obsessing over lately. It didn't take me very long to walk up to Queen West and back, so I had more than enough time to check out some of the Universities back at the Convention Center. I picked up info from Ryerson, York and Carleton and well as some stuff from OCAD. Ryerson and York are looking promising, I'm looking forward to going to their seminars over the next month.
Once we were done with the Convention, we drove back to Kitchener and went out for dinner at a little Italian place that's actually just down the street from my place. Anna and I ordered the same thing, caesar salad and lasagna. T'was delectable!
After dinner, I was dropped off at 130 King for another Mixing Politics and Music show, this time featuring a representative from the NDP. It was a pretty hectic night, or at least it seemed that way. Rockenspiel was by far the highlight of the night, the dancing was top notch!

Today, I'm definitely feeling sicker than I was on Friday. I'm trying to keep it low key today, and hoping that that will make me feel better.

Mixing School and Work and Politics and Music and Scrabble

I woke up on Friday morning to a headache, a sore throat and general haziness, which convinced me to get at least another hour of sleep. I decided to get to school for second period, which was harder than I had expected, since my bus never came. Fuck you, GRT.

School on Friday couldn't have been very interesting, since I don't really remember what happened that day. I had to go to work after school, a typical Friday night at work ensued. I didn't plan on going to the Mixing Politics and Music show at the Grist Mill, since I figured that I should be well rested for Saturday. I ended up going anyway, and I'm glad that I did! Although I only got to see one band, Parlovr were incredible! Ali bought their album, so I'll have to borrow that asap.

After the show, the gang went to 1842 and we played my favourite board game ever: Scrabble. You cannot deny the fantasticness of Scrabble, don't even try.

Words Don't Even Begin!

This, this right here, is where it's at.

Big Pimpin'

T'was a great day.
Anna went to the UWO conference thing, which ended up being a source of much entertainment! As you may or may not know, Western is considered a bit of a "bro-versity", and somewhere that we generally want to avoid. So when Anna emerged from the seminar, we grabbed the information from her arms too see what this place was all about.
I found a popped collar within 10 seconds.

Anyway, we started watching the original 1963 version of Lord of the Flies in English, which I'm really enjoying, if just for the unintentional surreal nature and unintentional humour! It's shot in very faded black and white, and for the first five minutes or so, the lines were delivered stunningly slowly! Also, Ralph is easily the ugliest boy on the island, while Jack is the most, dare I say, attractive? And Simon looks like a young Thom Yorke! What is going on?!

So I spent most of today pondering those questions. We got our yearbooks today, and as usual, everyone looks hilarious. Especially a certain person.
After school, Dunners, Kylie and I went uptown for some 1842 smoothies, and we generally bummed around till Dunners went to work. I picked up Music Has The Right To Children by Boards of Canada from Orange Monkey, which I have yet to listen to. I'll do that soon.

Filming was cancelled today, since we all agreed that we need better locations. We're hoping to get something done on Sunday.

This weekend is lookin' fine, by the way. I have not one, but two Trepid shows to look forward to, the University fair in Toronto, and a Sunday off!

Oh, and those headphones have been on my mind for days!

Farm Life as it Should Be

Today was an odd little day.

I got a lot of reading done this morning, and I'm almost done Hocus Pocus. It's an incredibly good read, and might just be eclipsing Slaughter-House Five as my second favourite Vonnegut book (my favourite being Breakfast of Champions).
Anyway, I had to suffer through "Luther" again in history. I have no idea how the filmmakers managed to take such an interesting story, and turn it into such a snooze-fest. Blah.
Believe it or not, work actually put me in a good mood today! Typical Wednesday, very quiet.
I was going to make a list of all of the things that i have to look forward to, but...nah. I'm trying to keep this thing as 'in the present' as possible.
That said, tomorrow we're supposed to start filming Like a Fish Needs a Bicycle! Hurrah!

So Its Come to This.

I've started blogging.
I don't think I'm going to start this new venture with an introduction in the vein of "I'm Emma, I live in blah blah blah", because that just seems unnecessary. Instead, I'm just going to act like I've been at this for years.

I spent most of today an a half asleep daze, feeling as though I should be doing more, or at least trying to do more. Watching "Luther" didn't help with the whole 'being awake' thing. I finally wore my new bow tie, which I paired with a blazer, because I'm all manly like that. After school I went out for coffee with my dearest Dunners, and we came to this conclusion: Halloween will be a buh-last. I've spent most of tonight drumming and looking at University info, which is absolutely terrifying. On the plus side, I have found a few film programs in Ontario that sound appealing, so further researching lies ahead!
